During Sustainable Places Conference 2023, the two sister projects, ASTEP and FRIENDSHIP, will exchange on their experiences in a workshop dedicated to Solar Energy in Industrial Processes
In the framework of the call H2020 LC-SC3-RES-7-2019 dedicated to Solar Energy in Industrial Processes, the European Commission gives support to two projects, ASTEP and FRIENDSHIP, now engaged in the development of solutions that cover by means of solar thermal energy the highest possible share of the heating and/or cooling demand of one or more industrial processes. In the case of heating, the targeted process temperature is higher than 150°C and individual industrial sites and/or industrial parks (coupled to a district heating and/or cooling network) are in the scope of the study.
Unfortunately, 3 years after the start of both projects, the potential of applying solar energy for industrial purposes is still largely untapped. Using solar energy to provide the heat or cooling necessary to industrial processes, that need high reliability and high-quality heat and cooling and continuous operation, now requires the actual implementation of the innovative advances in solar energy technology.
During the workshop, both projects will give an update on the development of industrial solutions with limited installation, maintenance, and operation requirements. They will also show the instruments deployed to create significant visibility to the potential of applying solar thermal energy in industrial processes.
The workshop will also be a time for sharing with the different industrial sectors to discuss the place of SHIP in the SPIRE Roadmap.
Don`t miss the opportunity to join the discussion!
